Philippines’ largest city Quezon is set to host the first International Pink Film Festival, which is slated to be largest LGBT films event in Asia.

According to GMA, the festival will be the world premiere for documentary filmmaker Nick Deocampo’s new film #pinQCity,’ which tackles the life of the LGBT community in Quezon.

Other local films will include releases such as Gil Portes’ Markova, Aureaeus Solito’s Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, and Alvin Yapan’s Gaydar.

There will also be an International Gender Rights Forum and Pride March during the International Pink Film Festival week.

The festival will be held from December 9 to 16 at Trinoma Mall.

Last month, Quezon approved ordinance that bans anti-gay discrimination.

The ordinance expands a 2003 law that focused only on workplace discrimination.

The new law includes education, delivery of goods or services, insurance, and access to accommodation.

Same-sex sexual activity is not a crime in the country.

However same-sex marriage is not recognised, and gay couples are unable to adopt. Transgender people are unable to legally change their gender or first name.
